A WORTHING charity shop was turned inside out in October, to raise awareness of a painful genetic skin blistering condition.

The DEBRA shop, in the Guildbourne Centre, was supporting the #ShowYourSeams campaign to support people with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).

People living with EB have to protect their delicate skin from simple things like the seams or labels on their clothes and sometimes even have to turn their clothes inside out to prevent further friction and damage.

Dawn Sturman, shop manager, said: “Every year, the last week of October marks EB Awareness Week but this year, we wanted to create a bigger buzz, so we turned the whole of October into EB Awareness Month.

“As the face of the charity on the high street, we wanted to get involved with the campaign by turning our window displays inside out.

“We hope it encouraged passers-by to get involved too, by turning their T-shirt inside out and posting a photo on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #ShowYourSeams to raise awareness, or holding a #ShowYourSeams dress down day.”

The money raised will help DEBRA, the national charity that supports individuals and families affected by EB, to continue to fund pioneering research into treatments for the condition.

DEBRA also provides an essential lifeline in coping with the day-to-day devastating effects of EB, which, in the worst cases can be fatal.
