FIFTY festive hampers have been handed out to needy residents to bring a little Christmas cheer into their lives this winter.
Organised by Lancing and Sompting Lions Club, the hampers were delivered by a meals on wheels service to the residents in Lancing and Sompting.
Eddie Marchant, Welfare Committee, Lancing & Sompting Lions Club, said: “As they have done for the past six years, and in partnership with the Royal Voluntary Service, Lancing and Sompting Lions Club provided Christmas hampers for 50 needy residents in the area.
“The Lions packed and decorated the hampers at the Chesham House Centre in Lancing, and the RVS then arranged for them to be delivered by the Worthing Meals on Wheels service and local volunteer drivers.”
Lancing & Sompting Lions Club was established over 30 years ago.
In that period, many people and groups have benefited from the support given.
The Lions motto is ‘We Serve’. The club supports the elderly by giving a Christmas party, a summer cream tea, and help support school children on their trips abroad.
