The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) and MP Micahel Foster have joined forces to encourage residents to make sure their receive all the money they are entitled to, especially with growing anxiety about the rising cost of living.

Amanda Morton King, of Hastings and Rother CAB, said: "Recent increases in essential everyday expenses means many people are finding it increasingly hard to make ends meet.

"Yet too many people are missing out on money that is rightfully theirs. Many simply assume they won't qualify and others are worried about the process of making a claim.

"But claiming can be simple. We are urging anyone who is unsure about their entitlements or who like help making a claim to come along to the bureau and get a free confidential benefits check."

She added that it was vital people put in claims as soon as possible as Government plans to reduce the period backdated payments can be made from 12 months to three.
