Clampdown on Goring's teen boozers

POLICE have seized alcohol from youths in Goring and are clamping down on on under-age drinkers behaving anti-socially.

Complaints about youngsters at Goring Gap, specifically on the green at the bottom of Aldsworth Avenue, have been increasing.

But police and the Goring Action Group, a residents-driven group set up to tackle such behaviour last summer, have vowed to put a stop to it.

At the weekend, officers from Worthing's neighbourhood specialist team visited the green and seized alcoholic drinks from youths.

The drink, which will now be destroyed by police, included lager, 10 different alcopop drinks, vodka and cider.

Following the action, police inspector Howard Hodges has issued a warning: "My team will be visiting this location on a regular basis and will not only seize alcohol but also report those found there to their parents, including, where necessary, taking them home."

Insp Hodges has also called on parents to be aware of where their children are, and for those who know they are going to the green to encourage their children to behave.
