Rother chief executive Derek Stevens, who also acts as clerk to the town's Charter Trustees, said the revised nominations were put to the annual mayor-making ceremony next Tuesday.

The Charter Trustees are the 18 Bexhill councillors on Rother. Since loss of borough status when Bexhill was merged with Battle and Rye to form Rother in 1974 they have had responsibility for caring for the former borough plate and regalia and for electing a Town Mayor and Deputy Town Mayor each year.
