She added that the local MPs played a vital role in championing the cause of a move to a new site and said they were ‘greatly’ impressed by what they saw.

Mayor of Worthing Bob Smytherman said: “I was hugely impressed with the design of the college and the facilities for students and staff, as well as opportunities for the wide community to benefit from what is now one of the best facilities we have in town.”

Worthing and Adur Chamber of Commerce and headteachers from partner schools in the local area also took part in the tour.

Tim Loughton had taken up a charity challenge to wear a ‘Santa suit’ for the day with proceeds going to St Barnabas House.
