This newspaper vigorously defends free speech - but with it comes a responsibility to be honest and not to wilfully tell lies, especially when choosing not to be named, but operate with a nom de plume.

Hiding behind a fabricated name with anonymous registration details made up merely to secure an account and making specific unfounded allegations against individuals is not acceptable.

With true freedom of speech comes the necessity to stand up and be counted.

I have barred contributors to this site who appear to have deliberately lied and/or made personal verbal attacks and I will continue to do so in such circumstances.

While contributors are free to use an alias, it is always better to give your real name and address when you wish to speak out on a matter of public interest.
