Committee backs plans for Lancing and Findon fire stations

A SCRUTINY committee has voted to support plans for changes to West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

The county council’s select committee voted yesterday (Wednesday, November 10) on the proposals, which include the closure of Findon retained fire station and the loss of Lancing’s second engine.

The committee did, however, suggest two amendments be considered by Peter Evans, the cabinet member for public protection.

They said he should consider the possibility of “mothballing” Findon for a year and take into the account the strength of local feeling captured by petitions.
