Community contributes to school’s gardening education

The Mace convenience story in Jarvis Road, Arundel, has donated plants for Arundel CofE School’s Peace Garden.

Schoolchildren from year four were given the opportunity to work alongside another stalwart from the community, George Stedman, a retired deputy head who comes into the school regularly to teach the children about the benefits of gardening and the links to science.

Vicky Lee, class teacher for year four, said: “The boys and girls really love Mr Stedman coming into school.

“He inspires them and this has resulted in children becoming keen gardeners themselves.

“One child has even started bringing his own plants into school.

“The school would like to thank Jay from Mace convenience store as well as Mr Stedham, both of whom are Arundel residents, for supporting their local school and for the opportunities that they have given their children.”
