The One Love Worthing community event was held at St Paul’s Art Centre to celebrate diversity and recognise people have more in common than they realise, which can be used to bring them together.

Luke Angel, from organisers Worthing People’s Assembly Against Austerity, said: “This was a free family friendly event. It was a very successful and enjoyable day with music, art, spoken word, face paint, henna, stalls, workshops, food and drink.

“We hope we can bring even more interest for when we hold the next event around March next year.”

The event also helped to launch the One Worthing page on Facebook, which states: “Worthing is rapidly becoming a multicultural hub. This page celebrates that and provides a place to exchange information, events, thoughts and issues.”

The page wants to bring together the diverse cultures of Worthing ‘to create an online community recognising that we have more in common’, celebrate differences and unite in similarities. It is a ‘place to chat, exchange ideas and information, to post upcoming events and discuss issues related to integrating into a multicultural environment’.
