Community fun day to help Wilson grow

Wilson Blomfield was starved of oxygen at birth and suffers from quadriplegic cerebral palsy.

His parents, Zoe Minter and Phill Blomfield, arranged the day with the help of family and friends, to pay for private physiotherapy and speech language sessions.

The event was held earlier this month in Lamb Park on Pond Lane, Durrington.

Activities included a fun fair, bouncy castles, face painting, music, an assault course and a number of stalls.

Zoe, who grew up in Lancing but now lives in Hove, said: “The whole community came together, which was a really nice feeling.

“We were thrilled with the turnout, it was amazing and exceeded all of our expectations.

“The day raised £3,700 but we still have lots of donations coming in. That money means so much to us as a family because it means that Wilson can continue to have the treatment that is really helping him to achieve.

“Through the physio-
therapy and language sessions, he is learning to grow and develop in his own special way.

“Life can be very hard at times because Wilson needs caring for throughout the day and night as at the moment he still cannot sit or stand or walk.

“He does say some words though and we are hoping that this will continue so that he can access his world.

“We are so grateful to everyone that came along to the family fun day and for giving so generously.”
