As reported in the Herald last week, the sudden closure of Findon village’s post office prompted the community to rally together to buy the shop.

The store is being sold at auction on Friday, and funds needed to be gathered by last Friday in order for them to be ready in time.

In an update today, it was confirmed the campaign has reached its fundraising target.

Chairman of Findon Parish Council Peter Goldsworthy, who is leading the campaign, said it was impossible to say what will happen at the auction, as other parties may be interested in the freehold.

However he added: “Things are at least going in the right direction.

“It has been a huge, very credible response from the whole of the village.”
