Controversial cycling plans to be re-examined

COUNCILLORS will look again at plans to allow cycling in Worthing's Montague Street pedestrian precinct - a year after they were put on hold.

In the spring of 2003, West Sussex County Council announced a consultation exercise on its proposal to open the precinct for cyclists between 5pm and 9am Mondays to Saturday and on Sunday at all times.

But it was decided to put the plan on hold because of local resistance to the scheme, and the fact that local elections were soon to be held.
