Council IT outage investigation planned

An investigation will be launched to determine why key IT services at Adur and Worthing councils suffered an outage for over a week.

Server problems which became apparent last Monday meant that the council’s leisure facilities and crematorium were unable to take bookings, as well as council staff not being able to access emails.

A resolution was on the horizon on Tuesday, when these services started to re-appear.

Speaking at a meeting of the Joint Strategic Committee on Thursday, strategic director Andrew Gardiner said: “Staff are working very hard to resolve this very difficult incident and we are planning to have a detailed investigation as to why this happened.”
