Council’s YouTube page reaches 10,000 hits

A year since the council signed up to video sharing website YouTube it is celebrating reaching 10,000 hits on its page.

Horsham District Council set up a YouTube page in May 2012 to better engage with residents.

Some of the most popular videos that the council has produced include an interview with Tyler Paul, the West Sussex Flame Ambassador at the Paralympic Flame Celebration event in Horsham held in August 2012, with over 1,200 views.

Other videos include sheep racing at Chesworth Farm, a walking tour of Horsham Museum, and an interview with South Lodge chef Matt Gillan talking about The Big Nibble event.

Helena Croft (Con, Roffey North), HDC’s cabinet member for communication, said: “It’s great to see that so many people have been watching our interesting and varied videos that really show people what we’ve been doing.

”With so many people now on YouTube, this is another great way for us to engage with our residents.”

There are now 40 videos on the page and the most recent video sees Mrs Croft giving an update on the West Street Enhancement Project.

Horsham District Council also uses Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to keep in touch with residents, as well as via more traditional forms of communications such as the Horsham District News magazine, online and by telephone (01403 215100).
