COUNTY NEWS: A283 closed after head-on collision

There are believed to be serious injuries following a head-on collision on the A283 near Northchapel earlier this afternoon (Thursday, August 13).

The crash happened shortly before 2pm just south of School House Farm and the road is closed in both directions between its junction with Streel’s Lane, Ebernoe and North Lane to Lurgashall.

A police spokesman said: “Due to casualties being attended to, and oil and debris on the road, it is expected that the A283 will be closed for at least three hours until 5pm at the earliest while the scene is cleared.”

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area.
