COUNTY NEWS: Cash machine containing ‘substantial amount of money’ stolen from inside shop

A cash machine containing a ‘substantial amount of money’ was stolen from a Sussex shop in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, November 15).

Police are currently investigating the burglary from the Co-operative store in Lindfield High Street, which took place at around 3am.

A spokesperson from Sussex Police said: “Police are investigating a burglary at the Co-operative stores in Lindfield High Street where, shortly after 3am on Sunday, November 15, the front window was smashed and a cash machine containing a substantial amount of money was dragged from inside by a large, 4x4 type vehicle.

“Witnesses saw the 4x4, which had 377 in the registration plate. It is known that a green Land Rover Discovery with registration K377 DHJ was stolen overnight from Crawley.

“Police have not found this Land Rover and are seeking the public’s help in locating it.

“The police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the Land Rover in the area before, at the time or after the burglary.”

Witnesses should contact police by calling 101 and quoting serial 191 of 15/11/15.
