Don, 79, died after he was stabbed on the A24 at Findon following a car crash.

“I was very saddened to learn of the death in such tragic circumstances of Don Lock – one of our most loyal supporters over the close season,” said club chairman Tony Bloom.

“A fan of the club since the 1940s, he was a season-ticket holder at the Amex with his son Andrew.

“His family and friends are with us tonight to pay tribute in the 79th minute, with fans being asked to join a minute’s applause to honour Don’s life.

A large number of people are expected to attend Mr Lock’s funeral and a procession in Worthing on August 12.

Matthew Daley, 34, of St Elmo Road, Worthing has been charged with Mr Lock’s murder.

He is also accused of possessing a knife in a public place. He is due to appear at Hove Crown Court on September 25.
