Cracker joke competition

Bupa care homes have launched a national joke competition as they prepare for a cracking Christmas.

And two local Bupa care homes, Ancaster Court nursing home in Hastings Road, and Grosvenor Park nursing and residential home in Brookfield Road, are appealing to the local community to enter the ‘It’s a Cracker’ competition.

The top ten jokes from across the UK will be placed inside home-made crackers that care home residents will enjoy as part of their Christmas celebrations.

A selected shortlist of the top ten jokes will be publicised on Bupa’s intranet site so that staff from across the world can vote for their favourite. There will be two winning jokes, one from a Bupa care home resident and one from a member of the community.

The winners of the competition will each receive a special prize, with the community member winning £100 of high street vouchers.

Siobhan Drane, Bupa’s community affairs manger, said: “Everyone has their favourite joke - we want to hear them and have as many people as possible joining in with our residents to have fun over the festive period.

“We like to fill our homes with festive cheer at Christmas and can think of no better way than cracking some jokes. This competition is sure to keep everyone laughing and smiling.”
