Appeal for information following Worthing pub assault

POLICE officers are investigating an assault at a Worthing pub on Saturday (December 10).

Officers were called to the Downview pub, in Station Parade, Tarring Road, at approximately 12.15am following a report of a man with a head injury.

The victim, a local man in his 50s, was taken to hospital suffering from a cut to his head.

A 47-year-old man from Worthing was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and has been bailed until January 9, 2012, pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Jon Stadius of West Sussex CID said: “It is believed that the victim was punched to the head and we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident taking place.”
