Officers were called to a report of a disturbance outside Victoria Court in Clifton Road at about 2.24am this morning.

A 22-year-old man from London was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, where he is being treated for knife wounds to his head and face, police say. His injuries are serious but not life threatening.

The incident is being treated as grievous bodily harm (GBH), and police are continuing to guard the scene as forensics investigations and house-to-house enquiries are carried out.

At least three suspects are being sought in connection with the attack, however their descriptions are unknown at this stage.

It is believed the victim was attacked in London Street, and walked along Tarring Road and then into Clifton Road, where he sought help.

Anyone who saw what happened or who has any CCTV in the immediate area is asked to contact [email protected] or call 101, quoting serial 91 of 25/10.

Alternatively, members of the public can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
