Armed police at scene of incident in Portslade

Several police vehicles and officers are responding to the incident in Station Road.

Residents living nearby have been told to stay inside, according to an eyewitness.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Police received report of an altercation involving a group of four males at Portslade railway station at 3.40pm on Thursday (28 January).

“One male was reportedly in possession of a knife and the group made off in different directions. No injuries have been reported.

“​Enquiries are ongoing to locate the suspects.

“It is believed the group is known to each other and there is not thought to be any threat to the wider public.

“This incident is ongoing and no further information is currently available.”
