Armed police surround Shoreham Tesco after armed robbery

Police have cordoned off a Tesco store in Shoreham following reports of an armed robbery this morning (May 15).

A heavy police presence was visible around the Upper Shoreham Road store and in neighbouring residential streets.

A spoksman for Sussex Police confirmed the alarm was raised at 6.26am this morning when a man was reported to have threatened staff and made off with money.

Nobody was physically hurt, police said, and armed officers remain at the scene.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery, police added.
