POLICE are appealing for information after an attempt was made to rob two boys with a knife in Tarring Park.

At about 6pm on Thursday (March 1), the 14-year old victims were followed into the park by two other boys. They produced what is believed to have been a knife and one of the victims was kicked and punched, but not stabbed. The suspects made off without taking anything. The injured boy was treated at Worthing Hospital but later went home.

The suspects are described as white. One aged about 16 or 17, was about 5ft 6in tall and had a tattoo of a cluster of stars at the top of his right arm. He had short brown hair with possibly blond highlights, and a very spotty complexion. He was wearing a hoody with sleeves rolled up, and blue jeans.

The second boy was about 14, about 5ft 2in tall and of thin build. He had short black hair and was wearing a grey hoody.

Detective Constable Emma Cruise said; “This was an isolated incident but it was very distressing for the two boys. Just afterwards a man on a moped stopped nearby and assisted the two victims but later drove off. We would very much like to speak to this man as a witness.”
