A WORTHING man arrested on suspicion of the murder of an 11-month old girl has had his police bail extended while detailed forensic work continues.

Sussex Police Major Crime Branch launched a murder investigation on Saturday, May 14, after Crystal Hall-Hummel, of Christchurch Road, Worthing, died in hospital.

Paramedics were called to Nursery Lane, in Worthing, at 9.56am on May 13, and resuscitated Crystal, who had stopped breathing. She was taken to Worthing Hospital, from where she was collected by a specialist team from St Thomas’s Hospital in London.

Shortly after Crystal was pronounced dead the following afternoon, the 27-year-old man was arrested at St Thomas’s by Sussex detectives on suspicion of murder and was returned to Sussex for questioning.

The man’s bail has been extended until January 20, next year.
