Boy arrested after man is mugged

A boy has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a man was attacked in Lancing, police have said.

Sussex Police said its officers were called to a public house in North Road at just after midnight on Saturday, July 30.

A statement said: “The 20-year-old victim was walking in the vicinity of St Bernard’s Court near the junction with Sompting Road having escorted a friend home and was returning to the pub when the incident occurred.

“Afterwards, he discovered that his mobile phone was missing. He was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics for cuts to his head, bruising to cheeks and a swollen lip.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it is asked to email [email protected] or call 101 quoting serial 11 of 30/07.”

Police added that a 17-year-old boy from Lancing was arrested at 10.45am the same day and has been bailed to August 30.
