A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motorcycle and dangerous driving following a collision with a pedestrian yesterday (29 March) in Shakespeare Road, Worthing.

A 19-year-old woman (originally describe by police as a 26-year-old) has been airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London suffering from head and spinal injuries, where she remains in a “serious” condition.

Sergeant Tony Crisp, of West Sussex Roads Policing Unit, said: “We would urge anyone who witnessed the collision at around 1.30pm to please contact us as a matter of urgency on 101 quoting Operation Rother.

“Shakespeare Road is now open and I would like to thank drivers for their patience whilst emergency services attended to the woman and the scene of the incident was examined.”
