Coach crashes into eight cars in Worthing

A COACH caused chaos when it ploughed into eight parked cars in Worthing at the weekend.

The vehicle was being driven along Downview Road when it smashed into the cars at about 9.15pm on Saturday, June 18.

The coach was owned by Nottingham-based Trevor Bailey Travel.

The driver of a bus, a 47-year-old man from Mansfield, was taken to Worthing Hospital with minor injuries.

Sussex Police said he will be interviewed “in due course” and have started an investigation into the crash.

A spokesman said: “Police were called to the scene near the junction with Heene Way at 9.15pm after the white coach ploughed into a Nissan Micra, VW Eos, Vauxhall Astra, Nissan Almera, Ford Focus, Vauxhall Corsa, a Mercedes and a Saab.

“Nobody was in the vehicles at the time and the driver was the only occupant of the coach.

The majority of the cars were damaged beyond repair.
