A SOMPTING woman with dementia has gone missing from her home and may be heading to Hove.

Joan Redman, 76, has senile dementia.

It is not known exactly when she went missing from her home in Upper Boundstone Lane, Sompting, because her husband is too ill to talk to police but her daughter is very concerned about her welfare.

Police believe she may have left the house at breakfast time today (Wednesday, September 28).

Joan may be heading for the Hove area.

On a previous occasion she was found in a cemetery in Hove but police officers are searching a wide area.

She has also previously been found in local shops in Lancing.

Joan is white, about 5ft 2in tall and of very slight build.

She has short white/grey hair worn in a bob with a fringe.

She is a fast walker and has no visible disabilities.

It is not known what clothes she was wearing but it is believed that she was carrying a handbag, possibly black in colour.

If approached, Joan may seem very confused.

Anyone who sees or finds Joan should call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 and quote reference number 0856 of 28/09/11.
