Dad killed after standing in front of a train in Ferring

A FATHER-OF-FOUR wrote a suicide note before standing in front of a speeding train in Ferring, an inquest heard.

Ben Lay, 37, of Roundstone Drive, East Preston, died after he was hit by a train on Wednesday, July 13, after standing on the line near the Ferring footbridge connecting Langbury Lane with Onslow Close.

At an inquest in Worthing Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday, October 20), assistant deputy coroner Christopher Wilkinson heard how Mr Lay was upset following the break-up of his relationship with the mum of his fourth child.
