THIEVES grabbed mobile phones off the shelves of a town centre shop and ran off.

It happened at Carphone Warehouse in Montague Street, Worthing, at 3.20pm on Wednesday (February 29).

The four men ran west towards the bandstand, all of whom were said to be white, in their mid-20s and of average build by witnesses. One was wearing a grey/green, large hooded, quilted-style jacket and grey or light blue jeans. The second man had cropped dark hair and was wearing a light blue jacket and dark shoes. The third wore a grey jacket, blue jeans and a black baseball cap with a lighter coloured rim, while the fourth wore black trainers, blue jeans, a black sleeveless quilted jacket with a grey long sleeve top underneath and a black beaney hat.

DC Andy Hobden, who is investigating the robbery, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who was in Worthing town centre at around this time and may have witnessed this incident. The offenders ran from the bandstand area towards Liverpool Terrace.

“I am also interested in hearing from anyone who may have been offered a new phone for sale, for a to-good-to-be-true price without the product box or information around its origin.”

Anyone who witnessed what happened can contact DC Hobden at Worthing CID on 101, extension 81157, quoting serial number 1032 of 29 February.
