The mother-of-two was last seen on March 7, 2018, but it was thought unearthed CCTV footage of someone believed to be Georgina and an unidentified person could hold the key to unlocking the case.

Grainy images released by Sussex Police showed the pair walking past Subway in Chapel Road at around 4pm on the day of her disappearance – the last potential sighting of Georgina.

According to her mother, Andrea Gharsallah, a member of the public has now claimed to be ‘100 per cent sure’ they have identified the unknown woman to police.

But Andrea, who has steadfastly kept up the fight to find her daughter, said she is not getting her hopes up.

“Because it’s been going on for so long now I’m always dispirited, because nothing comes out of these things,” she said.

“I don’t get too excited, I just hope that it will lead to something because we need the answers to what’s happened.

“I am always going to keep my hope and hope that something will come out of it.

“It’s distressing and daunting that it’s gone on for so long but no-one’s come forward before.”

Andrea said the report came in to police at the beginning of the month, but the family had only been informed a couple of days ago.

She urged Sussex Police to investigate the tip-off, fearing that as time moves on and memories fade, the CCTV image could be the best chance of solving the mystery.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Sussex Police will always investigate any viable lines of enquiry in relation to the disappearance of Georgina Gharsallah, we remain committed to getting those answers the family deserve.

“This is a live investigation and we cannot go into any detail in relation to current lines of enquiry.”

Andrea has fought hard to keep Georgina’s case in the public eye and has regularly grown frustrated with what she perceives to be a lack of action from the police force.

In August, 2019, Sussex Police announced it was treating her daughter’s disappearance as a homicide, rather than a missing person’s case.
