The following are the latest results contributed by HM Courts Service, for cases sentenced by West Sussex Magistrates’ Court sitting at Worthing and Crawley from October 9 to 13, 2020.

Jason Moore, 34, of Winterbourne Close, Durrington, was given a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 24 months, with building better relationships programme requirement and rehabilitation activity requirement after admitting breaching a non-molestation order by making contact via Facebook, emails, calls on social media and sending people to an address in Worthing on September 6, 2020. He was given a 16-week concurrent prison sentence, suspended for 24 months, after admitting breaching a non-molestation order by posting on Facebook in Worthing on September 27, 2020. He was given a restraining order and must pay £100 compensation, £128 victim surcharge.

Joshua Hansford, 22, of Chester Avenue, Worthing, must pay £60 costs after admitting breaching a community order by failing to be available for a phone appointment on July 14, 2020, and an office appointment on September 2, 2020.

Christopher Markandoo, 42, of Limbrick Lane, Worthing, was given a community order with alcohol treatment requirement and rehabilitation activity requirement, and must carry out 100 hours’ unpaid work, after admitting making five phone calls that were grossly offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing, to the police emergency number in Worthing on May 22, 2020. He must pay £95 victim surcharge, £85 costs.

Richard Kinyua, 28, of The Avenue, Goring, was given a community order with drug rehabilitation requirement and rehabilitation activity requirement after admitting possessing a wrap of cocaine, a class A drug, in South Street, Lancing, on July 31, 2020. He must pay £95 victim surcharge, £85 costs.

Tomas Carino, 54, of Coppice Road, Durrington, was fined £345 and must pay £35 victim surcharge, £85 costs, after admitting failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis when required at Worthing Custody Centre on August 2, 2020. He was disqualified from driving for 12 months.

Scott Hellyer, 30, of Greenfields, Littlehampton, was fined £375 and must pay £38 victim surcharge, £85 costs, after admitting drink-driving (78mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath) in Lyminster Road, Crossbush, on August 1, 2020. He was disqualified from driving for 17 months.

Tia Merrett, 33, of Carousel Court, Bognor Regis, was fined £125 after admitting conveying tobacco into HMP Ford without authorisation, intending it would be passed into the possession of a prisoner, on February 28, 2020. She admitted breaching a community order and was dealt with for the original offence, receiving a community order with rehabilitation activity requirement for stealing a cigarette in Clarence Road, Bognor Regis, on August 23, 2019; assault by beating in Clarence Road, Bognor Regis, on August 23, 2019; and failing to surrender to custody at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on February 10, 2020. She was also given a community order and must pay £100 compensation after admitting assaulting an emergency worker, a police constable, by beating in Bognor Regis on November 24, 2019.

Owen Tossell, 24, of St Catherine’s Road, Littlehampton, was given a community order with rehabilitation activity requirement after admitting breaching a restraining order by making indirect contact in Burgess Hill on May 14, 2020. He also admitted breaching a community order and was dealt with for the original offence, receiving a community order for breaching a restraining order by visiting an address in Horsham between May 6 and 10, 2020; and two charges of assault by beating in Horsham on May 10, 2020. He was also given a community order and must pay £95 victim surcharge, £85 costs, after admitting assault by beating in Haywards Heath on May 5, 2020; assaulting an emergency worker, a police officer, in Haywards Heath on May 5, 2020; damaging a phone in Haywards Heath on May 5, 2020; and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress in Haywards Heath on May 5, 2020.
