Knifeman robs Worthing mobile phone store

AN armed robber stole a number of items from a mobile phone shop in Worthing today (Thursday, July 7.

Just after 9am the robber entered The Carphone Warehouse, in Montague Street, and threatened a member of staff with a knife before leaving with a number of items.

He is described as black, aged 19 to 20, 5ft 8in tall and of lean build. He had a ‘chinstrap’ beard and thin moustache and was wearing light denim jeans and a light grey jumper.

He left on a dark bicycle, turning north into Liverpool Gardens.

Police are collating forensic evidence and studying CCTV footage. Nobody was injured during the incident.

DC Paul Tonks, from Worthing CID, said: “This was deliberately timed with the opening of the store and we know that the man spent some time hanging around in the area before entering. There were numerous people about at the time and I’m sure that someone will have seen this man or will know about the incident.
