Lancing pensioner jailed for sex assaults

AN ELDERLY Lancing man has been jailed for twelve-and-a-half years for historic counts of sexual abuse against two children.

Oliver Connor, 72, Lancing was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Monday (July 2) after he was found guilty of attempted rape, rape and three counts of indecent assault on a girl on February 14.

The offences happened in Slough and Burnham Beeches between 1979 and 1982.

At the time, the jury were unable to reach a verdict on charges relating to a second girl, aged eight-years-old, of two counts of indecent assault and one rape. These charges related to offences in Slough between 1979 and 1980.

The Crown Prosecution Service decided to go ahead with a retrial with regards to the second victim, which took place last week. The jury returned guilty verdicts and Connor was sentenced for all the offences on Monday.
