Littlehampton man and woman charged following assault outside Worthing nightclub

A MAN has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and remanded in custody following an incident outside a Worthing nightclub.

The incident took place outside Illusions nightclub in Railway Approach, Worthing, in the early hours of Friday, August 3.

John Beddows, 23 and unemployed, of East Ham Road, Littlehampton, has been remanded in custody to appear at Chichester Crown Court, on October 19.

Lynda Smith, 30, of Beaumont Park, Littlehampton, has been charged with a public order offence.

She will appear before Worthing Magistrates’ Court on August 20.

The victim, a 48-year-old Worthing man, remains in St Richards Hospital in a critical condition after suffering serious head injuries.

DC Laura Sinden said: “Police are keen to talk with anyone who witnessed the assault just after 3am on Friday or had been at the Illusions nightclub that night.

“We would particularly like to talk to a woman, with dark hair and wearing a long flowery dress, who may be able to help us with our enquiries.
