Ian Paton, 36, of Snowdrop Rise, St Leonards, was found guilty of strangling Kayleigh Hanks, 29, to death at her flat in London Road, Bexhill, on July 21, 2019, in front of their baby. He was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 17 years.

At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on January 27, John Larkin, 33, was sentenced to 26 weeks’ imprisonment for punching and headbutting a woman he was walking with in Marline Avenue, St Leonards, on August 31, 2019

On March 10, Jordan Thomson, 27, unemployed and of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to theft from a vehicle after being caught trying car doors in Worthing. At the time, he had 49 convictions for more than 100 offences and was jailed for 40 days.

On May 4, Justin Goulding, 41, of Grove Road in Portland, was jailed for nearly six years for stealing £40,000 of fragrances from Boots in London Road, Bognor Regis and other driving-related offences. The van he used was pursued all the way to Southampton by police.
