Man arrested after 10 ‘illegal immigrants’ found inside lorry in Worthing

The driver of a lorry has been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences after ten suspected illegal immigrants were found inside a lorry after it was stopped in Worthing.

Police stopped the lorry on the A24 at Findon Valley just before 6.45pm on Tuesday (April 27).

Ten people found inside a refrigerated trailer were checked over by paramedics before being handed over to immigration enforcement, police said.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Police stopped a lorry containing ten people suspected to be illegal immigrants on the A24 at Findon Valley just before 6.45pm on Tuesday.

“They were checked over by paramedics and escorted away by police to be handed over to Home Office Immigration Enforcement and Border Force.

“The driver was arrested on suspicion of immigration offences and taken into custody.”
