Man arrested following Worthing assault

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of assault after an injured man was found by police in Worthing yesterday (Friday, May 13).

Officers on patrol in Chatsworth Road, Worthing, found the victim at around 3.20am.

The suspect was arrested after he was seen running from the scene by a police officer.

It is believed the assault took place following an argument between two groups.

Detective Constable Jamie Carruthers said: “The victim has received painful facial injuries as a result of the assault.

“An investigation is underway and I am keen to speak to any witnesses about the attack.”

The 25-year-old local victim was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Worthing Hospital with a suspected fractured eye socket.

A 22-year-old man from Worthing has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
