Man arrested on suspicion of 'attempting to take a child' at park in West Sussex

A 27-year-old man has been arrested after police were called to reports of someone approaching children in a park in West Sussex this morning (Friday, May 22).

According to Sussex Police, 'prompt action' by people in the Bognor Regis park meant that officers were quickly able to identify the man, who was arrested ten minutes later.

A spokesperson said: "The alarm was raised at 11.27am on Friday when a man was seen talking to children in West Park, Fish Lane, allegedly asking them to go with him.

"A 27-year-old man from Bognor Regis was arrested on suspicion of attempting to take a child so as to remove them from a person having lawful control.
