Man arrested over death of dog on A27

THE HERALD understands a man has been arrested, following the “horrific” treatment of a dog, which died after being dragged along the A27, tied to a car.

Police found the body of the beagle collie cross dumped in a lay-by on the A27 westbound, at about 10.30pm on Sunday (November 20).

Witnesses first reported seeing a black Porsche Carrera being driven around with a dog tied to the back at the Devils Dyke car park, Brighton, at 10pm.

The car was then spotted at 10.30pm, dragging the dog through the tunnel, before pulling into a lay-by.

When police arrived at the lay-by, they found the dog, and took it to a local vet, but it was dead,

PC Scott Walters said: “This is being treated as a deliberate act. The injuries this dog suffered were horrific.

“It has been distressing for everyone involved.”
