Man left with serious neck wound after Lancing fight

Police investigating a New Year’s morning fight outside a Lancing pub in which a man received a serious neck injury are seeking witnesses and information.

Officers were called to the Crabtree in Crabtree Lane, Lancing, at 1.35am on Tuesday, January 1, after reports of a large scale fight involving several dozen people.

Those present left as police arrived, and a 23-year old local man was found on the ground with a serious wound to his neck, for which he received treatment at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton before being discharged.

Detective Constable Chris Howbery-Gale said; “This was a nasty wound.

“We are currently talking to some witnesses, and anyone else who was present and can help is asked to call us via 101 quoting serial 0234 of 1/1.

“You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 121.”

Two men from Lancing, aged 20 and 18, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and were later released on police bail until February 15 while enquiries continue.
