Man needed operation after assault outside Worthing bank

A MAN was taken to hospital with a broken jaw and broken rib following an attack outside the Santander Bank, in Chapel Road, Worthing.

The 25-year-old was with friends when he became involved in an altercation with another man, resulting in him being punched and kicked to the ground.

The victim did not immediately report the attack, which happened on September 29 at around 3pm, to police, so a witness appeal has only just been made.

Detective Constable Julie Cox from West Sussex CID said: “The victim received a very nasty injury and has had to undergo an operation on his jaw and is still very shaken as a result of this nasty attack.

“Officers have been making house to house inquiries and viewing CCTV. We are hoping someone will have witnessed the attack which happened on a busy street in broad daylight.”

The suspect is described as white, aged about 27, of stocky build and had a full sleeve tattoo on his arm.
