Man robbed of mobile phone in Worthing street

A WORTHING man was robbed of his mobile phone and threatened with a knife as he walked home yesterday (Monday, May 7).

The 22-year-old man was walking along Westcourt Road just after 2am when he was approached by two men. One of the men threatened him with a knife and the other punched him on the face.

The pair took his mobile phone and a small quantity of cash and ran off eastwards. The victim was shaken but did not require hospital treatment.

Both suspects are described as white. One was about 5ft9in tall, and was wearing a black scarf, clothing and gloves. The second man was slightly taller, wearing a dark navy top, dark trousers and gloves.

Detective constable Sarah Thurgood said: “This is an isolated incident for the town and we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area in the early hours of Monday morning and who saw anything suspicious.
