Man taken to hospital after serious Littlehampton assault

A man has been taken to hospital after a serious assault in Littlehampton.

According to Sussex Police, officers were called to South Terrace, Littlehampton, just after 7.05pm on Wednesday (15 April).

Two men, known to each other, were involved in a verbal and physical altercation. One of the men suffered serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance staff to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Brighton, police said.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Kimberley May said: “We believe this to be an isolated incident whereby the two men are known to each other.

“Anyone who witnessed the assault or has any information to assist our investigation should make contact with us.”

A 48-year-old man from Lancing was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and he remains in custody while the investigation continues.
