Police get power to ask anti-social groups to leave Worthing

STARTING on Friday (June 1), police have the power to ask groups of two or more people in the town centre and its surrounding parks thought to behaving in an anti-social way to leave the area for up to 24 hours.

The three-month dispersal order lasts until August 31, and has been put in place by Sussex Police and Worthing Borough Council to allow people to enjoy the summer’s jubilee and Olympic festivities without the fear of anti-social behaviour spoiling them.

Dispersal notice posters highlighting the designated area and the order will be placed in Worthing town centre, Victoria Park, in Norfolk Street, and Homefield Park, in Homefield Road, and will also be distributed to residents and businesses.
