Police investigating sexual assault in Worthing

Police are investigating a reported sexual assault on a woman in a Worthing street.

At about 8.30am, on Tuesday, October 9, the 44-year-old local woman was getting into her car, which was parked in Clifton Road, Worthing, when she was assaulted by a man who ran up to her.

The assault was described by police as “very brief” as the woman managed to kick the man and he ran away through the grounds of nearby St Andrew’s Church, also in Clifton Road.

The woman was shaken but unhurt

The man is described as wearing a grey-coloured hooded top with the hood up, and wearing dark denim jeans.

Detective Sergeant Chris Leech said: “If anyone saw a man acting suspiciously in the Clifton Road area between 8am and 9am on Tuesday, or saw the incident itself, please contact us via 101 quoting serial 1227 of 9/10.
