Police remind Worthing motorists to keep car keys safe

POLICE are reminding vehicle owners in the Worthing area to keep their keys in a safe place following three house burglaries in which vehicles were subsequently stolen.

Officers are investigating the break-ins which happened overnight on Saturday, December 11, although they are not yet being linked.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: “We don’t want to unduly alarm people but this is a timely reminder to keep vehicle keys out of sight at all times, even in your own home. It is not currently known whether these properties were targeted because of the vehicles, or the burglars simply found the keys and then decided to steal the cars.

“Either way, it’s added distress to the victims.”

The burglaries happened in Hurston Close, Worthing, Manor Hall Road, Southwick, and Palmers Way, Worthing. The cars stolen were an Audi A5, A VW Passat and a BMW respectively.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0845 60 70 999.
