Sompting home owner assaulted by two men on doorstep

Police are seeking witnesses to an 'unpleasant and frightening' assault in Sompting.

According to Sussex Police, at around 9pm on Thursday, May 14, two men knocked on the door of a property in Bushby Close and assaulted the victim and damaged their property.

Just prior to this, a vehicle parked nearby belonging to the occupant was damaged as well as an electrical box.

"The first suspect is described as white, aged in his 40s, around 5'8'', wearing mainly dark clothing and had a fair-coloured beard," a police spokesperson said.

"The second suspect is described as white, also aged in his 40s and was wearing a light colour hooded sweatshirt."

The men left the scene on foot, heading south, police said.

PC David Slade said: "This was a unpleasant and frightening situation for the victim and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward and assist with our investigation.

"If anyone has information that can lead to the identification of the suspects, please report online or call 101 quoting serial 1362 of 14/05".
