Sompting supermarket robbed

Police are appealing for witnesses following after a supermarket was robbed last night by a man who claimed he had a gun.

A man went into the Co-Op supermarket in Test Road in Sompting at 8.10pm and demanded cash, according to Sussex Police.

Police say he claimed he had a gun and quantity of coins were stolen.

The suspect is described as tanned, late 20s or early 30s, slim, around 6ft and wearing a black woolly hat, black trousers, navy blue coat, black hoody and black shoes.

He had a grey scarf around his face and was carrying a blue Co-Op bag.

He is believed to have left the shop and headed north.

Anyone who has seen someone matching this description in the area or has any information is asked to call police on 999 quoting serial 1326 of 24/10.
